Mr. Russell’s 5th Class were learning about business and the world around us through the Junior Achievement programme! Rachel and Dylan from Sanofi visited the boys in 5th Class over 5 weeks and looked at different aspects of the world of business.
Week 1 saw the boys looking at resources, and the different types of resources that are needed for a successful business. Some great brainstorming to think of different resources took place. There was a fun game to play aswell! Check out the photos from Week 1 of Junior Achievement:
Rachel and Dylan from Sanofi brought a super activity for week 2 of the Junior Achievement programme as the boys learned about entrepreneurship! There are so many things that an entrepreneur has to think about when starting a business that the class hadn’t thought of. The activity was lots of fun, as each group had to design a new product and give it a retail price, while trying to remember that all the costs of making the product have to be considered, as well as making a profit. The third week of the Junior Achievement programme was really engaging, as the boys learned about STEM and skills needed for different jobs. There are so many different jobs and different skills are needed, depending on what area the job is in. STEM skills are very important too, as the boys learned during the lesson. They also filled out charts identifying the skills needed for certain jobs. Check out the photos from Week 3 of Junior Achievement in 5th Class:
The fourth week of Junior Achievement 2018/2019 was great fun! Rachel and Dylan talked to the boys about interviews. It’s very important to give the best impression of yourself that you can give, and to show that you are interested in the job that you are interviewing for. Dylan did an example of a bad interview, while Rachel showed us how to do a good interview. Some of the class got to practice interview skills too! The final week of Junior Achievement was very interesting, as Rachel and Dylan showed us how interconnected everyone around the world is, and how we depend on suppliers and businesses in other places to run a business in Ireland. The string experiment to show how we are all connected was very enjoyable! Check out the photos from Week 5 of Junior Achievement in 5th Class:
