St. Stephen's De La Salle

A super Science experiment in Mr. Lyons’ 2nd Class 2024/2025 as the class experimented with Magic Milk!

The boys added some food colouring to milk and dipped some cotton buds in washing up liquid. Milk is made up of materials like minerals, proteins, and fats in tiny pieces called molecules. Proteins and fats can change. When the washing up liquid is added to the milk, those molecules run around and try to attach to the fat molecules in the milk. You wouldn’t see this amazing thing happen without the food coloring! The food coloring looks kind of like fireworks because the colours are getting bumped around. When there is no more moving of the colours, it means that all the fat molecules have been found.

Check out some great photos as the boys experimented with their “Magic Milk”!
