St. Stephen's De La Salle

Over the past two years, the staff and children have worked on developing teaching and learning in the strand of Athletics. Staff completed Oide training on the athletics strand and brought the new skills to the yard for PE.

During Croke Park time in 2024/2025, the teachers looked at the PSSI lessons and resources to provide them with new ideas and games. During the month of February 2025, all boys worked hard on their fundamental movement skills (running, balancing, throwing and catching) along with trying out new activities and games connected to the strand of athletics.

Boys in Mr. Russell’s 5th class completed extra coaching from Athletics Ireland in how to teach athletics to other students and the boys helped out with PE in other classes.

PAWS – The water safety programme visited Senior Infants, 2nd Class and 4th Class this year. The boys learned all about water safety in their classrooms and even got to try on a life jacket! They then went to the yard to learn about throwing a life buoy. This was a great experience for the boys and they learned a lot about the dangers connected to water and how to be safe.
