Scintillating Science in Mr. Russell’s 3rd Class! The boys did a number of science experiments over the course of Science Week 2021.
They tested the effects of an acid, vinegar, on an egg compared to an egg in water. They made lava lamps using vegetable oil, water and soluble vitamins. The boys finished an experiment that they began during Space Week in October 2021, looking at microbes on different surfaces. The class learned about carbon dioxide and inflated balloons using baking soda and vinegar. And the boys learned about diffusion and water stratification when they did the Skittles experiment, going beyond simply watching the colours flow from the sweets and learning why the colours didn’t mix.
