St. Stephen's De La Salle

Science Week 2021 was a great success in Miss Kenny’s 2nd Class! The boys had a great time experimenting. They conducted THREE separate experiments.

They grew their own gummy bear and learned about absorption. They then watched ‘water walk’ during the rainbow walking water experiment. During this activity, the boys could see the water being absorbed by the kitchen roll and travelling along into the next cup. We focused on the concept of mixing primary colours. The red and blue mixed to make purple water, the yellow and blue mixed to make green water and the red and yellow mixed to make orange water. The boys then used this new information to make colour wheels in their art lesson. They were a real treat for the eyes!!

Finally, they did a very interesting experiment where they tested how soap and sanitizer affects germs. The boys were excited to see the soap causing the liquid to rush away. It was so important in helping us to understand how washing our hands helps to fight off any germs and keep us safe, especially during these Covid times!!

Please enjoy these fantastic photos of their Science Week fun!
