Born in Reims in France in 1651, John Baptist de La Salle led a remarkable life. From his childhood in Reims as part of a wealthy family, to his founding of the Brothers of The Christian Schools, he accomplished a huge amount in his lifetime. 2019 marked the 300th anniversary of the passing of St. John Baptist de La Salle, now the patron saint of all teachers. De La Salle died in Rouen, France, on April 7th, 1719. To mark the historic tercentenary of his passing, there were many special events taking place around the world. On Twitter, the special hashtag #300LaSalle was used to collate all activities taking place to mark the occasion.
Here in St. Stephen’s, we entered the Lasallian Competition each year up to 2020. Our classes enjoyed great success, taking home a prize from the competition every year that we have entered.
